My client is currently looking to appoint an experienced Community Invesetment Manager to join their organisation. This is a permanent job paying at the salary of £36,258 per annum

Purpose of job

With your exeprience you will develop and deliver the Community Investment work, identifying unmet need and developing innovative ways in which we can meet that need for the tenants, and wider Kent Communities.


  • Be the lead and manage services within the Community Investment theme of the Communities Directorate, delivering services across Kent and Medway.
  • Work with the Business Development team to design and develop new Community Investment projects that reflect unmet need in Kent communities, whilst ensuring that existing projects are effectively supported through administration, funding and service user engagement.
  • Work with the Youth Services Manager to monitor and evaluate our youth services, ensuring we are playing to our strengths, overseeing our contractual obligations and ensuring we have appropriate funding.
  • To develop work plans for the Community Investment team ensuring that all key targets, funding requirements and service standards are understood and met. Including supporting staff to take responsibility for collecting performance data.
  • Review the scope and performance of Community Investment services to ensure continuous improvement and service development.
  • Act as a key point of contact for Community Investment services, building relationships with external agencies, funders and stakeholders to represent and lobby for the value of Community Investment work and influence future design.
  • Work with partners agencies to ensure collaboration where appropriate to ensure value for money and avoid unnecessary duplication of services.
  • Work closely with the Head of Communities, Crisis Prevention Manager and Employability Manager to ensure that the themes are integrated and services support service users effectively.
  • Prepare reports and updates for Head of Communities as appropriate.
  • Any other reasonable tasks appropriate to the role identified by the Head of Communities.

Experience, knowledge and skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential
  • An ability to liaise with colleagues and external stakeholders as well as the ability to work using your own initiative and work as part of a team.
  • Experience of budget management
  • Good organisational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines
  • An excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages such as Word, Excel and Publisher
  • A flexible and adaptable approach working with integrity, with an optimistic and friendly attitude.
  • A proven track record of managing a cohesive team, creating a positive working environment and empowering staff to achieve their full potential.
  • Experience of managing a diverse team to meet targets.
  • Experience of delivering or managing youth services.
  • A proven track record of identifying, developing and evaluating community investment projects.
  • Experience of designing work plans, developing KPIs and ensuring their delivery.
  • Experience of building effective relationships with external partners.
  • Experience of working with funders and commissioners.

Desirable knowledge, skills and experience

  • An understanding of the voluntary and community sector in Kent
  • A project management qualification
  • The ability to analyse and evaluate data
