Job description

My client is an established Housing provider based in Nottinghamshire looking to recruit a Rents Officer for a temporary contract for around 8 weeks. This may extend depending on the needs of the Provider.

The Rent Officer will maximise income and eradicate debts owed to the Association by tenants, while ensuring those who are vulnerable are protected. The post holder will provide effective and efficient casework on tenancies across the portfolio or as directed and undertake regular, thorough ongoing account monitoring and data analysis. They will provide a helpful and professional housing management service to customers, including giving advice and guidance on debt management and working in a consultative manner with customers to improve the service the Association provides and help to sustain tenancies.



As the Rents Officer you will be carrying out a range of duties including ( but not limited to ) the following:

- Check arrears schedules weekly, taking action as required in accordance with the Association's "Rent Arrears Collection and Policy" and the Association's "Former Tenant Debt and Credit Policy" with the objectives of minimising debt, maximizing rental income and sustaining tenancies

- Minimise debt and maximise income collection by prioritising tasks accordingly.

- Enforce and initiate legal action by serving notices, preparing court papers, representing the Association in Court Cases (including for tenancy breaches in the Customer Excellence Lead's absence) and attending evictions.

- Manage and resolve all credit and former debt accounts, taking action as appropriate. Liaise with debt collection (recovery agents) to ensure income collection is maximised.

- Deal with correspondence and routine interviews with tenants concerning the collection of debts.
