Job description

My Client is currently looking for a Tenancy/Housing Officer to join their team on a temporary basis at the rate of £17.25 Paye or £22.00 umbrella. This is based in Hertfordshire.

You will need to have an Enhanced DBS and be a car driver.

With your experience you will be responsible for providing a comprehensive tenancy management and support service to current tenants, former tenants and leaseholders

Day-to-day duties will involve the post holders working in close liaison with all customers of the housing service as well as colleagues in their teams and across all services and other external partners and agencies.

The post holder will be a confident, customer focused and engaging effective communicator. They must also be diplomatic and resilient to deal with sensitive and complex issues, delivering an excellent housing service in a flexible, tailored and responsive way.

You will

- Ensure tenancy sustainment emphasising tenants and leaseholder's responsibility to keep to the terms and conditions of their tenancy and or and lease agreement.
- Be responsible for tenancy enforcement by taking appropriate action as and when required, in line with the organisations policy, procedures and current housing legislation.
- Carry out an annual program of Tenancy Audits, (including Right To Buy audits and priority transfers).
- Undertake investigations including carrying out credit checks, taking appropriate actions in relation to Tenancy Fraud such as subletting and abandonment, ensuring compliance with current legislation and the tenancy agreement.
- Carry out investigations in line with policy and procedure for low level Anti-social Behaviour (ASB), ensuring that all cases are recorded and monitored. Referring cases to the ASB team where court action is deemed necessary.

- Establish and maintain strong effective working relations with other departments, to provide a comprehensive and seamless service to current tenants, former tenants and leaseholders

- Attending residents meetings, consultation forums and other internal and external events where council staff presence is required. This includes attendance at events outside normal office hours and sometimes at weekends

- Carry out flat block inspections in line with targets and objectives ensuring that health and safety issues are addressed. Investigate and take appropriate action in relation to repair, fly tipping, communal gardens, damage to the block and items left in communal areas and any other issues that may arise
