Pay Rate: £38 per hour umbrella (negotiable)
Contract: Full-time | 36 hours per week | Inside IR35

Are you an experienced Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) or Child Protection Chair looking for your next contract in a well-structured and supportive London borough? Sutton is seeking a passionate and detail-driven professional to join their People's Services team, ensuring robust care planning and safeguarding for children and young people.
This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a key leadership role and make an immediate impact within a forward-thinking council that values integrity, the voice of the child, and continuous improvement in children's social care.
Key Responsibilities:Chair Looked After Children (LAC) reviews and act as Duty Child Protection Chair as required.
Ensure statutory obligations are met and best outcomes are achieved for children with Child Protection Plans and those who are Looked After.
Support and promote the voice of the child in all care planning discussions and decisions.
Monitor the quality and timeliness of care plans, ensuring compliance with local and national standards.
Challenge underperformance through established monitoring and escalation protocols.
Provide effective oversight of safeguarding practice, escalating concerns and driving continuous improvement.
Essential Experience and Qualifications:Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
5+ years post-qualification experience within statutory children's services.
Proven experience chairing statutory meetings and managing performance within children's teams.
Strong knowledge of legislation, statutory responsibilities, and best practices around child protection and looked after children.
Experience in supervision, leadership, and the ability to challenge poor practice constructively.
