Job Summary: Advanced Practitioner Role in Bedford Borough's CONECT Assessment Team

As an Advanced Practitioner Social Worker at Bedford Borough Council, you will supervise and support a team of four social workers and one child practitioner, ensuring excellent safeguarding standards for children and families in Bedford. You will chair strategy meetings, allocate cases, and provide supervision-all within a collaborative and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Leading and managing a team of social workers and child practitioners in the Assessment Team (CONECT Team).

Case allocation and workload management to meet safeguarding targets.

Chairing multi-agency strategy meetings to safeguard vulnerable children.

Providing case supervision and personal support to your team members.

Ensuring compliance with Children's Social Care legislation and Bedford Borough safeguarding policies.

Collaborating closely with the Team Leader to drive service improvements.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.

Proven experience in an advanced practitioner or senior social work role within children's social care.

Strong leadership and team management experience.

In-depth knowledge of safeguarding legislation, risk assessment, and multi-agency working.

Excellent communication, organisation, and decision-making skills.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, demanding environment.

Pay Rate: £41.50 per hour (umbrella)
Job Location: Borough Hall, MK42 9AP

Bedford Borough Council is looking for an experienced Advanced Practitioner to join their Assessment Team, known locally as the CONECT Team. This is a rare opportunity to step into a leadership role within a well-established and supportive environment.

As an Advanced Practitioner, you'll play a key role in managing frontline staff, supporting effective casework, and ensuring high standards in safeguarding children and families.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee and support a small team of four Social Workers and one Child Practitioner.

Allocate cases appropriately within the team.

Chair strategy meetings and contribute to critical safeguarding decisions.

Deliver case supervision and personal supervision for team members.

Work closely with the Team Manager to uphold quality practice and statutory requirements.

Ensure timely and effective interventions in line with assessment procedures.

Essential Requirements:

Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.

Proven experience in assessment teams or frontline children's services.

Previous leadership or Advanced Practitioner experience is desirable.

Strong knowledge of child protection legislation, risk assessment, and safeguarding protocols.

Confident in decision-making and delivering supervision in a fast-paced setting.
