Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) - Out of Hours
Location: Milton Keynes Council
Rate: £40.00 per hour
Contract: Locum | Ad hoc basis (on-call, overnight shifts)

Milton Keynes Council is seeking experienced and qualified Approved Mental Health Professionals (AMHPs) to join our Out of Hours service on an ad hoc locum basis. This role is ideal for professionals looking to work flexible shifts, particularly overnight on-call duties, with advance notice provided.

Key Responsibilities:

Undertake AMHP duties in line with the Mental Health Act 1983 (as amended)

Respond to urgent and emergency mental health assessments out of hours

Liaise with internal teams, police, health professionals, and Approved Doctors as required

Maintain accurate records and adhere to professional and legal standards

Requirements:

Qualified and currently approved AMHP status

Minimum 2 years' experience in statutory mental health settings

Ability to work independently during out of hours shifts

Up-to-date knowledge of mental health legislation and safeguarding procedures
