Join our dynamic Integrated Front Door Team in Barnsley as a Children's Social Worker (SSW). In this rewarding role, you will be at the forefront of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children in our community. You will work collaboratively with families, professionals, and agencies to assess needs, provide support, and ensure that children receive the best possible care and protection.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Conducting thorough assessments of children and families to identify needs and risks. Developing and implementing effective intervention plans tailored to individual cases. Collaborating with multi-agency teams to ensure a holistic approach to safeguarding. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date case records in compliance with statutory requirements. Providing support and guidance to families to empower them in making positive changes.To be successful in this role, you must possess essential qualifications and skills, including:
A recognized social work qualification (BA/MA in Social Work or equivalent). Current registration with Social Work England. Demonstrable experience in children's social work, particularly in assessment and intervention. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships. Barnsley Council is looking for a committed Placement Support Officer to join their busy placements team. This role is crucial in supporting the identification and coordination of suitable placements for children and young people entering care.
Key Responsibilities:
Work closely with managers and internal teams to identify placements that meet the assessed needs of children and young people
Maintain and update systems used for tracking placement data and compiling statistical reports
Assist in the process of contract completion, compliance checks, and ongoing monitoring for independent fostering and residential placements
What We're Looking For:
Organised and proactive team player
Strong communication skills and ability to liaise with multiple stakeholders
Experience within placements, children's services, or a similar support role is desirable
Familiarity with compliance processes and placement coordination is a plus
