Hertfordshire County Council is recruiting an experienced Children's Social Worker to join their 0-25 CWD CLA Team, supporting Children Looked After with diagnosed disabilities.

Based at Apsley 2, Hemel Hempstead, this is a vital frontline role where you will carry a full CLA caseload, attend reviews, visits, and meetings, and work closely with multi-agency partners to deliver the best outcomes for children and young people.

Work with CLA children with diagnosed disabilities

Manage full caseloads and carry out all statutory CLA duties

Conduct reviews, planning meetings, and out-of-county visits

Collaborate across agencies, schools, and health professionals

Operate in a well-supported, structured team environment

Lead on statutory CLA reviews, visits, and assessments

Prepare and contribute to care plans, placement updates, and LAC reviews

Represent the local authority in multi-agency and out-of-area meetings

Build strong, trusting relationships with young people and their families

Maintain up-to-date, legally compliant records

Advocate for the best outcomes, including for children with complex disabilities

Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England

Minimum 3 years post-qualified experience (PQE)

Strong assessment, safeguarding, and court experience

Knowledge of Children Looked After frameworks and disability services

Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle

Able to work collaboratively and travel for out-of-county duties

Supportive and stable team environment

Hertfordshire County Council is seeking an experienced Children's Social Worker to join the Family Safeguarding Team West, based in Apsley, Hemel Hempstead. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within one of the UK's most progressive safeguarding models, with manageable caseloads, free on-site parking, and cutting-edge mobile tools.

This role is perfect for a dedicated practitioner with strong safeguarding experience who's ready to embrace the Family Safeguarding approach - a model focused on multi-agency collaboration, motivational interviewing, and holistic family support.

Caseloads under 20 - prioritising quality over quantity

Access to motivational interviewing training and CPD support

Hybrid working model - 3 days in office, 2 remote

Issued iPads and access to county-wide touchdown hubs

Free on-site parking at the Apsley office

Work collaboratively with social care, health, substance misuse, and domestic abuse professionals

Deliver timely assessments, welfare reports, care planning, and attend reviews/conferences

Carry out child and family assessments, section 47 investigations, and care planning

Work with children on Child in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP), and court proceedings

Prepare and present reports for court hearings and safeguarding conferences

Use the Family Safeguarding model to achieve better long-term outcomes

Liaise with partner agencies, promoting a collaborative approach to child protection

Maintain high-quality, analytical, and legally defensible case records

Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration

Minimum 1 year post-ASYE experience (3+ years preferred)

Recent experience in Children's Safeguarding, CP, CIN, or Court Work

Strong understanding of legislation, policies, and multi-agency safeguarding protocols

Confident in IT (Microsoft Office) and remote working tools

Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle

Must be able to attend an interview within the next week

Innovative Family Safeguarding Model recognised nationally

Training provided in motivational interviewing and reflective practice

Supportive environment with regular supervision tailored to caseload risk

Ability to work flexibly across the county via "touchdown" locations
