Your key responsibilities will include:
Conducting assessments and developing care plans for children in care (CIC) and looked after children (LAC). Monitoring and reviewing the progress of children in care, ensuring that their needs are met and advocating for their best interests. Providing support and guidance to foster carers and birth families to enhance the stability and well-being of children. Participating in multi-agency meetings and contributing to the development of safeguarding practices.To be considered for this role, you must possess the following essential qualifications and skills:
A recognized Social Work qualification (e.g., BA/MA in Social Work). Current registration with Social Work England. Experience working with children and families, particularly in a CIC/LAC context. Pay Rate: £35 per hour (umbrella)
Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday)
Contract Length: Minimum 3 months

About the Role:
Wakefield Council is currently seeking a Senior Social Worker to join their Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) Team. This is a crucial frontline position requiring strong analytical skills, the ability to make confident decisions under pressure, and previous experience working within a MASH environment.
This role offers the chance to work in a fast-paced, collaborative setting, surrounded by professionals from different partner agencies-all dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of children across Wakefield.
Key Responsibilities:
Screen and assess all incoming referrals within the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH).Liaise effectively with health, police, education, and other key safeguarding partners.Analyse and evaluate information to make sound decisions on the level of risk and intervention required.Provide recommendations and rationale for the next steps in line with safeguarding thresholds.Ensure all actions taken comply with legislation and local safeguarding procedures.Candidate Requirements:
Must be a Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.Minimum 3 years of post-qualifying experience in statutory children's services.Recent and relevant experience in a MASH Team (clearly outlined in your CV).Ability to work under pressure, manage information efficiently, and make safe, well-informed decisions.Strong understanding of thresholds, safeguarding legislation, and risk management.What Wakefield Council Offers:
