Job Opportunity - Social Worker (Adults) - Locality Team

Location: Wokingham
Rate: £35.89 per hour (Umbrella)
Contract: Full-time, Ongoing
Requirement: Must be a car driver - regular face-to-face visits required

Wokingham Borough Council is seeking an experienced Adult Social Worker to join their busy Locality Team. This is a dynamic and fast-paced role where the successful candidate will be at the heart of delivering high-quality frontline services.

Key Responsibilities:
Conduct Care Act 2014 assessments (S9 & S11) to a high standard, including complex S42 safeguarding enquiries.

Lead on risk management planning and contribute to court work where required.

Manage a complex caseload while balancing operational pressures.

Regularly carry out face-to-face assessments and meetings across the borough.

Use Mosaic case management system effectively.

Collaborate closely with colleagues and partners in a multi-disciplinary environment.

About You:
Qualified and SWE registered Social Worker.

Proven experience working in Adult Social Care.

Strong understanding of the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, and safeguarding frameworks.

Excellent communication skills, assertive decision-making, and the ability to work under pressure.

Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Job Title: Senior Social Worker - Adults Safeguarding Hub
Location: Wokingham, RG40 1BN
Pay Rate: £38.97 per hour
Contract: Locum, Full-Time
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: Ongoing

Overview:
Wokingham Borough Council is seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker to join their Adults Safeguarding Hub. This is a specialist role focused on managing complex safeguarding cases, working within a fast-paced, high-performing team.

Key Responsibilities:

Leading and managing complex adult safeguarding enquiries under Section 42 of the Care Act 2014

Working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams, health partners, and voluntary sector organisations

Undertaking risk assessments and delivering outcome-focused interventions

Supporting less experienced staff and contributing to service development

Maintaining accurate and timely case records using Mosaic or similar systems

Requirements:

Social Work qualification (Degree/DipSW/MA)

Current registration with Social Work England

Minimum of 4 years post-qualified experience, including significant work within Adult Safeguarding

Strong knowledge of relevant legislation including the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, and Human Rights Act

Ability to manage high-risk and high-complexity cases independently

Service Area: Transition/Preparing for Adulthood (14-25 year olds)

About the Role:
We are currently seeking an experienced Qualified Social Worker to join the Preparing for Adulthood Team, supporting young people aged 14 to 25 as they move from Children's to Adult Services. This is a vital transitional service supporting young individuals with disabilities, special educational needs, and complex needs.

You will work collaboratively with families, education providers, and health professionals to ensure tailored support is in place for each young person. This role requires strong Care Act knowledge, experience in multi-agency working, and the ability to handle complex caseloads.

Key Responsibilities:

Conducting transition assessments under the Care Act

Developing and reviewing support plans

Liaising with families, schools, health, and adult services

Supporting young people through key life stages

Safeguarding and risk assessment

Ensuring smooth handover from Children's to Adults Services

Requirements:

Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration

Minimum 2 years post-qualified experience

Experience in transition, disabilities, or preparing for adulthood teams

Sound knowledge of the Care Act, Children Act, and safeguarding processes

Strong assessment and communication skills
