Bolton Council is seeking a Deputy Team Manager to join their Assessment Service, a key part of the borough's Front Door response. The service handles referrals from the Integrated Front Door regarding children at risk of significant harm, requiring timely and thorough assessment and intervention.
In this role, you will work closely with the Team Manager to support, supervise, and guide a team of Social Workers. You'll help ensure high standards of practice are maintained across the team, overseeing statutory work including:

Bolton Council is seeking an experienced and committed Social Worker to join their Looked After Children (LAC) Team. This is a vital role focused on delivering high-quality social work services to children and young people in care and their families.
You will play a key role in assessing needs, developing and reviewing care plans, working alongside multi-agency professionals, and ensuring children and young people receive the support they need for safe and stable outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver purposeful and professional social work support to looked-after children and families.
* Undertake needs assessments in line with statutory requirements and departmental policies.
* Work directly with children, carers, families, and professionals to plan and review care plans.
* Attend and contribute to LAC reviews, court proceedings, case conferences, and core group meetings.
* Maintain accurate case records, reports, and management information.
* Liaise effectively with internal departments and external agencies.
* Contribute to team planning and departmental service development.
Candidate Requirements:
* Qualified Social Worker (CQSW / DipSW / CSS or equivalent).
* Registered with Social Work England.
* Minimum of 3 years post-qualifying experience in statutory children's services, preferably with LAC.
* Experience working with legal frameworks such as the Children Act 1989.
* Able to manage caseloads effectively and meet statutory timescales.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willing to process one).
* Car driver with access to a vehicle (essential, as this is an essential car user post).

*Undertaking home visits to gather information to establish any safeguarding concern- initial child /family needs assessments
*s47's enquiries- including co-ordination of statutory meetings and closing s47 if no further action/concern
*Provide short term interventions -liaising and passing case assessment/referrals to other teams when progressed
*Work within the Courts, taking statutory action when necessary to protect a child, including Emergency Protection Order applications and initiation of Care Proceedings
*Duty rota cover - front line social work
Some flexible working in place- however candidates must be able to meet the needs of the service and undertake duty and home visits, some of which may be short notice due to the reactive nature of the service. Caseload will be across Bolton with office base at Castle Hill.
Essential Requirements:
* Social Work Qualification - Degree or equivalent
