Join a progressive and supportive team at Oldham Council as an Advanced Practitioner within the Children's Safeguarding and Care Planning Service.

We are seeking a confident and experienced social worker who is passionate about delivering high-quality practice and ensuring positive outcomes for children and families.

Key Responsibilities:Hold and manage complex and high-risk cases across safeguarding and care planning.Lead on statutory work, including child protection conferences, care proceedings, and multi-agency planning.Mentor, support, and advise social workers and students within the team.Contribute to service development, quality assurance, and best practice standards.Liaise with children, families, and key partner agencies to ensure effective safeguarding interventions.Requirements:SWE registered with a recognised Social Work qualification.Substantial post-qualified experience in frontline children's services (safeguarding and care planning essential).Ability to mentor and support staff in complex decision-making.Willingness to work from the Oldham office at least 3 days per week.

You'll be joining a team that values good supervision, reflective practice, and multi-agency collaboration, with a focus on positive outcomes and manageable caseloads.

* Holding a caseload of Children in Need under Section 17 of the Children's Act of 1989 and children subject to Child Protection Plans
* Undertaking Initial Assessments
* Undertaking Core Assessments
* Undertaking Parenting Assessments
* Undertaking Risk Assessments
* Undertaking Educational Needs Assessments
* Carrying out home visits for monitoring purposes/ to promote the welfare of and to safeguard the children
* Liaising/ Working close with partnership agencies to support the families and meet the children/ young peoples needs
* Convening and chairing Core Group Meetings
* Producing Initial Child Protection Conference reports

Support team development and provide mentoring or practice guidance to less experienced staff.

Essential Requirements:
Social Work England registration.

Significant experience in complex adult social care work, including Care Act assessments and safeguarding investigations.

Proven ability to work autonomously and flexibly across a range of service areas.

Strong communication, critical thinking, and case management skills.
