Wokingham Borough Council is seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker to join their busy Adults Locality Team. This is a dynamic role ideal for a confident and skilled practitioner who can manage complex caseloads, support team members, and contribute to high-quality service delivery under the Care Act.
Key Responsibilities:
Complete Care Act Section 9 and 11 assessments to a high standard.
Lead on complex Section 42 safeguarding enquiries, including risk management and protective planning.
Oversee court work and ensure statutory responsibilities are met effectively and professionally.
Provide supervision and guidance to qualified social workers, supporting practice development.
Operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-demand team environment.
Contribute to a culture of learning and excellence, offering support to colleagues while managing competing demands.
Ensure accurate and timely case recording, preferably using Mosaic (or demonstrate the ability to learn systems quickly).
Essential Requirements:
Qualified Social Worker with SWE registration
Strong track record of working in adult social care with complex case management
Experience supervising qualified social workers or mentoring junior staff
Expertise in safeguarding, court work, and multi-agency collaboration
Excellent communication, assertive decision-making, and critical thinking skills
Experience using Mosaic (or quick learner with similar systems)

To work within the Adult Social Care team 18+, undertaking direct work with customers who have a learning disability, physical disability, long term conditions, young carers and people transitioning into adulthood and older people. The main aim of the service is to enable people to live safely in the community, maximising their strengths and abilities to live as independently as they can, and supporting carers to continue in their caring role as long as they wish to and are able to.
Requirement:
Qualified social worker with 3 + years' experience of working in adult social care
Able to be office based a minimum 1 x weekly and complete visits on other days
Car driver with access to a car
Experience - Dementia , drug/alcohol related issues, Homelessness ,Hoarders ,S42 ,carers assessment .community work and multi disciplinary work.
