An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Team Manager to join Barnsley's Future Directions Service - a dedicated Care Leaving Team supporting young people aged 16-25.

The Future Directions Service works alongside the Children in Care team and plays a key role in helping care-experienced young people transition into adulthood with the guidance, resources, and support they need.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage a team of Personal Advisors

Oversee support provided to young people aged 16-25

Ensure high-quality pathway planning and outcomes

Work collaboratively with Children in Care services and other partners

Maintain service standards and provide strong team leadership

Barnsley Council is offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced Team Manager to lead a brand-new Edge of Care Team, designed to support children aged 10-18 who are at risk of becoming Looked After.

About the Role:
This newly established team will deliver intensive, targeted, and creative interventions to families, focusing on strengthening relationships and reducing the need for children to enter care. The work will include a mix of one-to-one and family-based sessions, tailored to the unique needs of each family.

As Team Manager, you'll play a key role in shaping the team's practice, driving high-quality interventions, and ensuring positive outcomes for vulnerable children and young people.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide strong leadership and direction to a multi-disciplinary teamDevelop and oversee personalised interventions aimed at preventing family breakdownSupport families with complex challenges, including neurodiversity, trauma, and resistance to professional involvementContribute to the ongoing development and success of a pioneering new service

What We're Looking For:

Proven leadership experience within children's social careStrong understanding of the factors contributing to family breakdownExperience working with children with complex needs and traumaAbility to engage with families in a meaningful, empathetic, and effective way
