About the training

The aim of this training is to create a deeper understanding in regards to the grooming process, gang involvement, child sexual exploitation and how this directly affects the lives of children.

Gangs

The first part of the course aims to increase delegates’ knowledge of gangs. Practitioners will develop an overall awareness of the issues in relation to gangs. It will explore county lines, identity, reasons for individuals joining gangs, exploitation and gang grooming. Delegates will learn about relevant legislative and licencing requirements and management.

This course will cover:

  • Gang identity
  • Consequences
  • Why individuals join gangs
  • Exploitation and gang grooming
  • County Lines
  • Methods of engagement

CSE

This second part of the course aims to increase delegates’ knowledge and awareness of CSE. As well as identifying/spotting the signs of CSE delegates will develop an understanding of how best to engage Children and Young People affected by CSE. It will also explore the available resources and services for professionals.

This course will cover:

  • Spot the signs of sexual exploitation
  • Impact of abuse and neglect on children and young people
  • Raise skills and confidence in discussing the subject of CSE
  • Engage with children and young people who have been affected by CSE
  • Review creative approaches to promote engagement
  • Increased knowledge of relevant and appropriate services that can offer support to young people
