We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) to join the AMHP Hub in Oldham on a full-time basis.

Key Responsibilities:

Work as part of a two-person team within the AMHP Hub.

Undertake Mental Health Act (1983) assessments in accordance with legal frameworks and best practice.

Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary professionals and partner agencies.

Provide clear documentation and decision-making to support the assessment process.

Ensure assessments are carried out with a focus on dignity, rights, and person-centred care.

Requirements:

Current AMHP qualification and approval to practice.

Registration with Social Work England.

Demonstrable experience of undertaking MHA assessments.

Strong communication and risk assessment skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Offer:

Competitive hourly rate of £40.

Stable, full-time working hours: Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm.

Trafford Council is seeking a highly experienced Level 3 Social Worker who is also a warranted Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) to join their Emergency Duty Team (EDT). This is a critical out-of-hours role providing emergency statutory cover across Children's and Adult Social Care, including Mental Health Act responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:
Respond to urgent safeguarding concerns and social care crises involving children, adults, and families

Undertake Mental Health Act assessments and act as AMHP when required

Make confident, autonomous decisions in high-pressure situations

Liaise with emergency services, hospitals, and internal social care teams

Maintain accurate and timely records in line with legal requirements

Essential Criteria:
Social Work qualification and Social Work England registration

Current AMHP warrant with permission from warranting authority to practice in other areas

Extensive EDT experience across both Children's and Adults' services

Strong background in Children's social care is essential

Sound understanding of relevant legislation including the Mental Health Act and Children Act

Ability to work autonomously in high-risk, out-of-hours scenarios

Must be a driver - the role requires mobility across Trafford

Hybrid working - office-based initially, then home working

Due to ongoing staff shortages from sickness, annual leave, and vacant positions, your support is urgently needed-especially over the Christmas and New Year period.

Work flexibly across all settings as needed
