Join our dedicated team in Manchester as an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) within the Emergency Duty Service. In this vital role, you will provide essential support and interventions for individuals experiencing mental health crises. Your expertise will contribute to the safety and well-being of the community, ensuring that individuals receive the care and attention they need during emergencies.

Key responsibilities include:

Conducting assessments and evaluations of individuals in crisis to determine their mental health needs. Collaborating with healthcare providers, social services, and law enforcement to develop and implement effective care plans. Providing immediate interventions and support in emergency situations, ensuring the safety of individuals and others. Documenting assessments, interventions, and outcomes in compliance with legal and organizational standards. Participating in on-call duties and responding promptly to emergency situations as required.

To be successful in this role, candidates must possess the following essential qualifications and skills:

A valid AMHP qualification and registration with the relevant professional body. Extensive experience in mental health practice, particularly in crisis intervention and emergency settings. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively under pressure. Knowledge of mental health legislation and best practices in crisis management. Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Social Worker required for work within the AMHP in the Devon area. This post will be based in Exeter in Wonford House Hospital, which has good transport links to the M5 and A38. Close to the coast and in an area of outstanding national beauty. 37 hours a week with rates up to £48ph for experienced candidates. Flexible, hybrid working arrangements.

Devons daytime AMHP service needs an additional locum AMHP with the availability to start without delay. Devon is an innovative AMHP service which
encourages and supports creative AMHP practice, including the new approach to s13 MHA consideration.

Significant post-qualifying experience and an existing AMHP warrant essential.
You will be working 9-5 Monday-Friday, although compression of full-time working hours into four working days may be possible. Consideration may also be
given to part-time working.

You will be based in Exeter, but will be expected to travel throughout Devon, as required.

Our service

The Devon AMHP Service is recognised as a national example of good practice and has been involved in the development of the AMHP National Service Standards and other initiatives related to the role. We are constantly seeking ways to improve our service, including how best to capture and utilise the voices of those that have experience of being assessed under the Mental Health Act and to further improve practise for the benefit of those who come into contact with our service.

Candidates need to be competent at writing reports and carrying out risk assessments relating to mental health.

You will be Social Work England registered, ideally a driver with access to own car and able to reside and work in the UK
