Barnsley Council is seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker to join its Fostering Team on an ongoing agency contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and experienced practitioner to work within a supportive team, providing high-quality services that improve outcomes for children and foster families.

Location: Barnsley (S70 2DQ)
Contract: Ongoing Agency Contract

Key ResponsibilitiesManage a complex caseload within the Fostering Team.Undertake assessments, reviews, and statutory visits in line with legislation and local policies.Provide guidance, mentoring, and support to less experienced social workers where required.Work collaboratively with foster carers, children, families, and multi-agency professionals.Ensure safeguarding and child protection responsibilities are effectively carried out.Prepare high-quality reports and maintain accurate case records.RequirementsSocial Work England registration.Significant post-qualifying experience within Children's Services.Strong knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, fostering legislation, and court processes.Experience supporting, mentoring, or supervising social workers.Excellent assessment, communication, and analytical skills.Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced, multi-agency environment.BenefitsCompetitive pay rate.Supportive and collaborative team environment.Opportunity to influence and develop best practice.Ongoing agency contract with the potential for extension.Dedicated consultant support throughout your assignment.
