Cheshire West and Chester Council is seeking an experienced Social Worker to join its Children with Disabilities Team. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a dedicated service committed to safeguarding children with complex needs while supporting families to achieve the best possible outcomes.
Working within a well-established and supportive team, you will manage a varied caseload of children and young people with disabilities, undertaking statutory assessments, care planning, and multi-agency working to ensure children receive the right support at the right time.
This role offers a competitive £39 per hour, hybrid working, and the opportunity to work within a progressive local authority that places children and families at the heart of its practice.
The RoleAs a Social Worker within the Children with Disabilities Team, you will:
Manage a caseload of children and young people with complex disabilities and additional needs.
Undertake Child in Need, Child Protection, Looked After Children and Care Act assessments where appropriate.
Complete high-quality statutory assessments, care plans, risk assessments and reviews.
Work closely with education, health professionals, SEND services and partner agencies to deliver coordinated support.
Build effective relationships with children, parents, carers and professionals to ensure positive outcomes.
Attend strategy meetings, child protection conferences, reviews and legal planning meetings.
Prepare clear, evidence-based reports for court proceedings and statutory meetings where required.
Ensure all case recordings are accurate, timely and compliant with statutory guidance and local authority standards.
RequirementsTo be considered, you will have:
Social Work England registration.
A recognised Social Work qualification.
Recent experience within a Children with Disabilities, Children's Social Work or Safeguarding team.
Sound knowledge of the Children Act 1989, Working Together to Safeguard Children and relevant disability legislation.
Strong assessment, communication and report-writing skills.
The ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
