Walsall Council is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Children’s Social Worker (SSW) to join our Fostering Team. This vital role involves working with children and young people in foster care, ensuring their safety, well-being, and developmental needs are met. You will be part of a supportive team, committed to making a positive impact in the lives of vulnerable children in our community.
As a Children’s SSW, your key responsibilities will include:
Conducting comprehensive assessments of children and foster families to determine suitability and support needs. Developing and implementing care plans that cater to the individual needs of children in foster care. Providing ongoing support and supervision to foster families, ensuring they have the tools and resources necessary to provide the best care. Collaborating with other professionals, such as educators, healthcare providers, and child psychologists, to address the holistic needs of children. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date case records and reports in compliance with local and national policies.To be considered for this role, candidates must possess the following essential qualifications and skills:
A recognized social work qualification (e.g., Degree in Social Work, CQSW, CSS, or equivalent). Registration with Social Work England. Experience working within children’s services, particularly in fostering or adoption settings. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with children, families, and colleagues.
