About the Role:

Eden Brown Synergy is currently recruiting for an experienced Tribunal Officer to join the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Team at Kirklees Council. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled professional with experience handling SEND appeals and tribunals within a local authority setting.

Key Responsibilities:
* Managing and responding to SEND Tribunal appeals in line with statutory deadlines
* Coordinating evidence gathering and liaising with legal representatives, schools, and health professionals
* Preparing and reviewing case statements, working documents, and legal bundles
* Attending and representing the local authority at Tribunal hearings
* Ensuring compliance with SEND legislation and Tribunal processes
* Supporting the wider SEND team in delivering high-quality services to children and families

Requirements:
* Previous experience working as a Tribunal Officer or similar role within a local authority
* In-depth understanding of SEND Code of Practice, EHCPs, and Tribunal procedures
* Strong communication, organisational, and legal writing skills
* Ability to work under pressure and meet statutory timelines

We are currently seeking two experienced EDT Specialist Practitioners to join the Calderdale Emergency Duty Team (EDT) on a hybrid basis. This crucial out-of-hours role is ideal for qualified social workers with AMHP (Approved Mental Health Professional) status who are passionate about providing urgent support during evenings, nights, and weekends.

Key Requirements:

Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration

Valid AMHP warrant to practice

Experience in emergency duty or crisis settings is highly desirable

Working Pattern:

Night shifts: 16 hours

Weekend day shifts: 8-10 hours

Hybrid working model (some remote flexibility depending on the shift and rota requirements)

About the Role:
As part of the EDT, you'll respond to urgent situations involving mental health crises, safeguarding concerns, and emergency interventions. You'll be required to make critical decisions under pressure, often independently, and provide expert assessments and interventions that ensure safety and support for vulnerable individuals.

Primary Responsibilities as a MASH Social Worker:

Ensure that they are safe and supported to achieve their full potential, as supported by the Senior Fieldwork Manager and at times the Advanced Social Work PractitionerProvide a high-quality social work service to children, their families and carers by using relationship-based practice, following service practice standards and statutory guidanceWork in partnership with children, their families, carers and professionals to identify the right services for children who need help and protection or who need support to progress whilst in care or leaving care. Maintain accurate, case notes within statutory timescales, prepare plans, reviews and reports and engage in statutory supervisionSupport children and families in transition, including children and young people moving to and between placements, returning home, being adopted or moving to independenceBe accountable for compliance with standards and quality of social work practice
