Role Overview:
As a key member of the Child in Need team, you will:
Carry out Initial Viability Assessments for connected persons or prospective Special Guardians.
Explore extended family networks to support children through pre-proceedings or care proceedings.
Work under tight court deadlines, ensuring robust, evidence-based assessments.
Attend and contribute to Looked After Children Reviews, Permanency Planning Meetings, and Legal Planning Meetings.
Deliver child-centred, trauma-informed interventions using the Signs of Safety framework.

The roles are predominantly full time Monday to Friday with the option of a 9 day fortnight but part time would also be considered.
Leicester City are welcoming Social Workers with 2 years experience in CIN/CP/Court Work who will carry caseloads of around 20. You will support the emotional, social and physical well-being of children in need of support and protection by:
o Arranging and supervising contacts between parents and their children.
o Arranging health care appointments and overseeing the child's attendance.
o Undertaking life story work with children in care.
o Completing welfare checks and reporting concerns in line with local policy and procedure.
o Arranging attendance at activities such as health assessments, appointments, contact with family members and transporting children to various venues.
o Collecting items on behalf of a child and delivering them to their residence.

Youll play a key role in delivering assessments under the Mental Capacity Act 2005 to protect the rights and freedoms of vulnerable adults across the city and county.
Key Responsibilities
Undertake DoLS and Mental Capacity Assessments in line with statutory timescales
Coordinate the DoLS assessment process, including reviews
Support the BIA duty rota (1 day per week), responding to calls and emails
Provide expert advice and contribute to consistent, high-quality decision-making
Engage in multi-agency collaboration and offer support to BIA trainees
Ensure compliance with Article 5 ECHR, relevant legislation, and best practices
Attend office for meetings and as required (e.g. for IT or in-person reviews)
What You'll Need
Social Work, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, or related qualification (e.g., CQSW, DipSW)
Registered with Social Work England or relevant professional body

3-5 assessments per week for reassessments or familiar cases
