These roles are for the Child in Need (CIN) Teams which consists of CIN plans, Child Protection, Court Work and Care Proceedings. The roles are predominantly full time Monday to Friday with the option of a 9 day fortnight but part time would also be considered.

Leicester City Council's Adult Social Care team is seeking a qualified and experienced Best Interest Assessor (BIA) to join our Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) Team on a 3-6 month contract. Youll play a key role in delivering assessments under the Mental Capacity Act 2005 to protect the rights and freedoms of vulnerable adults across the city and county.

Key Responsibilities
Undertake DoLS and Mental Capacity Assessments in line with statutory timescales

Coordinate the DoLS assessment process, including reviews

Support the BIA duty rota (1 day per week), responding to calls and emails

Provide expert advice and contribute to consistent, high-quality decision-making

Engage in multi-agency collaboration and offer support to BIA trainees

Ensure compliance with Article 5 ECHR, relevant legislation, and best practices

Attend office for meetings and as required (e.g. for IT or in-person reviews)

What You'll Need
Social Work, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, or related qualification (e.g., CQSW, DipSW)
