Wigan Council is currently looking for an experienced and dedicated Social Worker to join their Child Protection / Locality Team.
Location :- 4DDLeigh Town Hall, Leigh, WN7 1DY
Payrate :-£38.00 Per hour (Umbrella)
Work Patter:- Hybrid Opportunity
Key Responsibilities:
Manage a caseload of Children in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP) and Children Looked After (CLA) cases within court proceedings.Undertake high-quality assessments, care planning and risk management to safeguard children and young people.Carry out direct work with children, young people and families to promote positive and sustainable outcomes.Prepare clear, analytical reports and statements for court, reviews and multi-agency meetings.Lead and contribute to Child Protection Conferences, Looked After Reviews and Core Group meetings.Work collaboratively with partner agencies including schools, health professionals, police and legal teams.Develop and implement long-term plans to support permanency and stability for children.Maintain accurate, timely and high-quality case recordings in line with statutory requirements.Ensure the voice of the child is central to all assessments, planning and decision-making.Participate in duty rota, team meetings, supervision and continuous professional development.Promote safeguarding, early intervention and family-focused practice in line with legislation and best practice.Essential Requirements:

Duties and Responsibilities:
Your daily responsibilities will include:
Lead and manage a Duty Team within a fast-paced Duty & Assessment Service, ensuring effective and timely service deliveryOversee and support social workers in handling complex and high-risk cases, maintaining high safeguarding standardsEnsure timely completion of Children and Family assessments and appropriate case progressionManage key case transfer points including initial child protection conferences, first CLA reviews, first PLO meetings, and third Child in Need meetingsDrive and embed good social work practice across the team, promoting quality and consistencyProvide supervision, guidance, and support to staff, fostering professional development and reflective practiceEnsure compliance with legislative frameworks, statutory requirements, and legal proceedingsPromote strengths-based practice, empowering children and families to achieve positive outcomesWork in partnership with children, young people, families, and multi-agency professionalsContribute to a positive team culture, encouraging innovation, accountability, and high performanceSupport service improvement and contribute to achieving the council's vision for children and familiesEssential Requirements:
* Social Work Qualification - Degree or equivalent
* At least 3 years' experience as a social worker within children's services
* Social Work England Registration
* Driving license and access to own vehicle
