Location: Ashbourne - Derbyshire
Contract: Locum / Agency
Shifts: 24/7 Rota Coverage Available
Pay Rates:


Days: £ 14.50 PAYE


Sat / Night: £16.50 PAYE


Sunday / BH: £18.50 PAYE


Sleep-In Shifts Available


We are currently recruiting experienced Residential Support Workers to provide locum cover within a Children's Residential Home supporting young people with learning disabilities and additional needs.
This service provides a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment for children and young people, focusing on emotional well-being, independence, education, and life skills development.
Main Duties


Supporting children and young people with learning disabilities in a residential setting


Assisting with personal care and daily living activities


Supporting emotional regulation and promoting positive behaviour


Encouraging participation in education, activities, and community engagement


Building positive and trusting relationships with young people


Following care plans and safeguarding procedures at all times


Working closely with the wider multidisciplinary team and external professionals


Maintaining accurate daily records and incident reports where required


Requirements


Previous experience within children's residential services or supported living


Experience supporting young people with learning disabilities and/or complex needs


Comfortable working within a 24/7 rota including days, nights, weekends, and possible sleep-ins


Strong communication and de-escalation skills


Full UK driving licence preferred

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Locum Team Manager to join a Local Authority Mental Health Social Work Team.
This is a pivotal leadership role within social services, responsible for overseeing the delivery of statutory duties and ensuring high-quality, person-centred support for adults with mental health needs.

You will lead a team of social workers and practitioners, ensuring compliance with legislative frameworks and driving best practice across the service.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide leadership and management to a team within Adult Mental Health Social Services
Oversee complex caseloads, ensuring statutory responsibilities are met
Ensure compliance with key legislation including the Care Act, Mental Health Act, and safeguarding procedures
Supervise, support, and appraise staff performance
Manage team performance, service delivery, and resource allocation
Lead on risk management, decision-making, and safeguarding interventions
Work in partnership with external agencies, housing providers, and health professionals
Contribute to service development and continuous improvement
Essential Requirements:

Registered with Social Work England (SWE)
Proven experience as a Team Manager within Adult Social Care / Mental Health Services
Strong working knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g. Care Act 2014, Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act)
Demonstrable experience managing staff, performance, and complex cases
Ability to lead under pressure and make sound, defensible decisions

Job Purpose

To support the Registered Manager in the effective day-to-day running of the residential service, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, safe, and person-centred care. The post holder will provide strong clinical leadership, maintain compliance with regulatory standards, and contribute to the overall performance and development of the service.

Key Responsibilities
Support the Registered Manager in overseeing the operational and clinical delivery of the service
Deputise in the absence of the Registered Manager, ensuring continuity of care and leadership
Provide clinical leadership and supervision to nursing and support staff
Ensure all care is delivered in line with best practice, policies, and regulatory standards
Lead on safeguarding processes, including identifying, reporting, and managing concerns appropriately
Maintain compliance with CQC standards, ensuring the service meets all regulatory requirements
Monitor and improve quality, safety, and performance within the service
Support with staff management, including rota planning, supervision, and performance management
Contribute to audits, governance processes, and continuous service improvement
Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical documentation and reporting
Clinical & Operational Duties
Undertake a combination of clinical shifts and supernumerary/office-based responsibilities
Deliver hands-on clinical care during shifts, acting as nurse in charge where required
Support admission and discharge processes, risk assessments, and care planning
Participate in the on-call rota and provide leadership support during out-of-hours periods
Ensure effective communication within the multidisciplinary team
Person Specification

Essential:

Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with valid NMC registration
Minimum 3 years' experience in a leadership or management role
Proven experience working within a residential care setting
Strong experience in safeguarding referrals and processes
In-depth knowledge of CQC standards, governance, and compliance
Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills

Desirable:

Experience in service development and quality improvement initiatives
Previous experience deputising for a Registered Manager
Working Pattern
Clinical shifts typically 07:30 - 19:45 (predominantly day shifts)
Flexible supernumerary hours
Rota-based mix of clinical and non-clinical duties
Weekend working and participation in the on-call rota required
