We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pre Birth Social Worker to join our dynamic team in Durham. In this vital role, you will provide essential support and guidance to expectant parents, ensuring that they have access to the resources and services necessary for a healthy and positive transition into parenthood. Your expertise will be crucial in helping families navigate the complexities of pre-birth planning, addressing any social, emotional, or practical challenges they may face.
Key responsibilities include:
Conducting comprehensive assessments of families to identify needs and strengths. Developing and implementing tailored support plans for expectant parents. Facilitating access to community resources, including healthcare, housing, and financial assistance. Providing counseling and emotional support to families during pregnancy. Collaborating with healthcare providers and other professionals to ensure holistic care. Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of support services and making necessary adjustments.To be successful in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and skills:
A recognized degree in Social Work and current registration with the relevant professional body. Proven experience in social work, particularly with families and children. Strong understanding of child development and family dynamics. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse populations. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Additional requirements include a valid driver's license and willingness to travel within the Durham area. ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Complete comprehensive pre-birth assessments and risk analyses.
* Work directly with expectant parents to identify strengths, needs, and risks.
* Develop and implement safeguarding plans to protect unborn babies.
* Lead Child in Need, Child Protection, and pre-proceedings work where required.
* Build strong partnerships with health professionals, midwives, and multi-agency teams.
* Prepare high-quality reports and present evidence at meetings and court proceedings when necessary.
* Support families to make positive and sustainable changes.
