- To efficiently and effectively undertake the assessment of applications for Building Regulation consent within the Partnership Area together with associated building inspections with due regard to the Partnerships liability.
- Undertake project management of major schemes for partner companies developing outside of the partnership area.
- To ensure that the local authority fulfils its legal regulatory function and national minimum performance standards and the authorities own objectives in relation to the service area.
- To have responsibility to act as the Building Authority and licensing authority in respect of safety matters relevant to sports grounds.
- To fulfil the city council's statutory responsibilities in respects of dangerous structures and related matters including weekend and evening work as required.
