Job Advert: AMHP Mental Health Practitioner - Shropshire Council
We are currently seeking an experienced Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) to join Shropshire Council for a locum contract supporting their Mental Health Services.

Role: AMHP Mental Health Practitioner
Pay Rate: £33.30 per hour (Umbrella)
Contract Length: Up to 20 weeks
Location: The Redwoods Centre, Somerby Drive, Shrewsbury, SY3 8DS
Working Pattern: Full-time, Office-based (some flexibility with prior agreement)

Key Responsibilities:

Support and cover the AMHP duty desk during business hours (with occasional out-of-hours assessment work)

Triage Mental Health Act assessment referrals

Conduct and support Section 13 visits with multi-disciplinary professionals

Support AMHP candidates currently on placement

Assist the Mental Health hospital discharge team with Mental Capacity Assessments and Section 117 meetings as needed

Requirements:

Must be a qualified AMHP with active registration

A minimum of 3 years post-qualified experience in a permanent role is essential (clearly marked on CV)

Candidates with only locum experience will not be considered

Familiarity with the Adults MOU implemented across the West Midlands
