Join Northamptonshire's Adoption/SGO Team!
We are looking for an experienced Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with adoption experience to join our Adoption & Special Guardianship Order (SGO) Team. This role involves direct work with families, completing assessments, home visits, and supporting permanency planning for children.
Key Responsibilities:
?? Complete adoption & SGO assessments, ensuring thorough and child-centered evaluations.
?? Undertake face-to-face visits (approx. 30% of working time) to build rapport and gather key information.
?? Work closely with families, foster carers, and adopters to provide ongoing support.
?? Attend team meetings (preferably on Wednesdays) and be present for core hours with 24-hour notice if needed.
?? Duty work in the office once per week, with occasional additional office days for meetings or events.
?? Manage a balanced and monitored caseload, adjusted based on complexity and workload demands.
?? Ensure best practice in permanency planning for children, working in accordance with Adoption Regulations and the Children Act 1989.
?? Collaborate with partner agencies to ensure the best outcomes for children.
About You:
? Social Work England registered with at least 2 years of post-qualifying experience.
? Essential: Previous experience in adoption and permanency planning.
? Strong skills in assessment writing, report preparation, and court work.
? Ability to engage with children, families, and professionals effectively.
? Knowledge of Adoption & Children Act 2002, Special Guardianship Orders, and safeguarding legislation.
? Flexible to travel regularly within Northamptonshire for family visits.
? Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
