Job Title: Senior Social Worker - Adoption and Permanence
Location: The Civic Offices, Bridge Street, Reading RG1 2LU
Pay Rate: Up to £42 per hour
About the Role
Reading Council is seeking a dedicated Senior Social Worker to join the Adoption and Permanence Team. This role is integral to ensuring that children and young people find secure, loving, and permanent homes. Youll work collaboratively with families, carers, and other professionals to support the adoption and permanency process, ensuring the best outcomes for children.
Key Responsibilities
Adoption Support: Assess, approve, and support prospective adopters, ensuring they are prepared for the responsibilities of adoption.
Care Planning: Collaborate with children, families, and professionals to create and implement care and adoption plans that meet each childs needs.
Permanency Pathways: Ensure timely and effective permanency planning, including Special Guardianship Orders (SGO) and Adoption Orders.
Family Support: Work with birth families, adoptive families, and special guardians to provide guidance and support throughout the process.
Regulatory Compliance: Prepare high-quality reports and documentation for court and panel presentations, ensuring all statutory and regulatory requirements are met.
Multi-Agency Collaboration: Partner with schools, health professionals, and other agencies to provide a comprehensive support network for children and families.
Post-Adoption Support: Deliver tailored support services to adopted children and families, helping them navigate challenges and build resilience.
Requirements
Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration.
Significant post-qualifying experience in adoption and permanence or related fields.
Strong understanding of adoption law, regulations, and best practices.
Skilled in completing assessments, writing reports, and managing complex cases.
Proven ability to engage children, families, and professionals in achieving positive outcomes.
