Job Title: Social Worker - Disabled Children and Young Peoples Team
Pay Rate: £32 per hour (Umbrella)
Location: Landmark House, 4 Egerton Road, Ipswich, IP1 5PB
Hybrid Working: 2 days in the office per week
Role Overview
Suffolk County Council is seeking a Qualified Social Worker to join the Disabled Children and Young Peoples Team. This role involves working with children and families of children with complex disabilities, ensuring their needs are met through CIN, CP, and CLA frameworks. The role may also include transition work for young people moving into adulthood.
Key Responsibilities
Assessment & Case Management:
Undertake social work assessments to determine children's and families needs.
Develop and implement Child in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP), and Looked After Children (CLA) plans.
Safeguarding & Multi-Agency Work:
Identify and manage safeguarding risks.
Work collaboratively with health, education, and social care professionals to support children and families.
Transition Planning:
Support children and young people transitioning to Adult Social Care services.
Work with SEND teams and education providers to ensure smooth transitions.
Advocacy & Support:
Provide emotional and practical support to children, young people, and their families.
Ensure that children's voices and wishes are central to decision-making.
Candidate Requirements
Qualifications & Registration:
Social Work Degree (or equivalent).
Registered with Social Work England.
Experience:
Minimum 2 years post-ASYE experience in CIN, CP, or CLA teams.
Experience working with children with disabilities and their families.
Skills & Knowledge:
Strong understanding of Children's Act 1989, Care Act 2014, and Safeguarding legislation.
Experience with transition planning for young people with disabilities.
Ability to assess risk and develop support plans.
