Leicestershire County Council is seeking an experienced Team Manager to lead the Families Together Team, which supports children and young people on the edge of care and those presenting as homeless (16-17-year-olds). This leadership role requires a strong background in Child Protection (CP) and a commitment to preventing family breakdowns. The position offers a competitive pay rate of £45 per hour (umbrella) and requires office-based working three days a week at County Hall.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Families Together Team, overseeing a team of social workers, a senior practitioner, and family intervention workers.
- Provide strategic leadership to support children and young people at risk of entering care or facing homelessness.
- Ensure high-quality assessments, interventions, and care planning, maintaining a strong focus on child protection and family support.
- Work closely with multi-agency partners to coordinate wraparound support for children, young people, and their families.
- Offer reflective supervision, guidance, and support to team members, ensuring professional development and high standards of practice.
- Manage performance, risk assessment, and case allocation, ensuring effective decision-making and case progression.
- Implement policies and procedures in line with statutory safeguarding requirements and council expectations.
Essential Requirements:
- Qualified Social Worker with registration under Social Work England.
- Proven Team Manager experience in Child Protection, Edge of Care, or Homelessness Support (16-17-year-olds).
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing social workers and intervention workers.
- Excellent knowledge of safeguarding policies, risk management, and care planning.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure, prioritizing workloads while maintaining high standards.
- Commitment to office-based working (three days per week) at County Hall to provide direct leadership and supervision.
