Gloucestershire Local Authority is seeking an experienced Educational Psychologist to provide specialist psychological advice and support in addressing the Local Authoritys assessment backlog. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact while working within a well-supported and structured team.
Role Overview:
As an Educational Psychologist, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality psychological assessments, interventions, and reports to support children and young people with special educational needs. Your work will contribute to the Local Authoritys efforts in ensuring timely and effective decision-making for children and their families.
This is a face-to-face role, and successful candidates will be required to work on-site in Gloucestershire. All necessary IT equipment will be provided to support your work.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct psychological assessments and provide expert advice in line with statutory and best practice guidelines.
Assist the Local Authority in managing and reducing the backlog of Education, Health, and Care Needs Assessments (EHCNAs).
Engage in face-to-face assessments with children, young people, families, and school staff.
Provide clear, evidence-based psychological reports to inform decision-making on educational support needs.
Work collaboratively with multi-agency teams, including SEN teams, social workers, and healthcare professionals.
Offer specialist consultation and guidance to schools, parents, and professionals.
Requirements:
To be considered for this role, you must have:
HCPC Registration as an Educational Psychologist.
Proven experience in providing Local Authority psychological advice.
Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and statutory requirements.
Experience in conducting psychological assessments and interventions for children and young people.
Ability to work independently while being part of a collaborative and multidisciplinary team.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce high-quality reports.
