Westminster City Council is looking for an experienced and committed Deputy Team Manager to join the Children's Services team. This is a key leadership role with a focus on delivering high-quality social work and support services to children, young people, and their families.

About the Role:
As a Deputy Team Manager, you will oversee and support a team of social workers, senior practitioners, and other specialists. Your responsibilities will include safeguarding, care planning, and case management, ensuring high-quality outcomes in alignment with national legislation and local priorities.
You will work closely with the Service Manager, helping drive service improvements, shaping policies, and ensuring the needs of the community are met.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead, supervise, and support a team of social care professionals.
Drive high standards in safeguarding, care planning, and statutory case management.
Provide strong leadership, fostering a learning culture and promoting positive outcomes for families.
Ensure anti-discriminatory and inclusive practice in all services provided.
Contribute to service development, performance management, and quality assurance processes.
Represent the service in multi-agency meetings and manage risks effectively.
Uphold the values of the Westminster Way, ensuring staff are supported, empowered, and developed.
What We Are Looking For:
A qualified Social Worker with a BA/MA in Social Work (or equivalent).
Social Work England registration and an enhanced DBS check.
Substantial experience in statutory children's services.
Proven ability to manage, supervise, and develop staff or students.
Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Children Acts 1989 and 2004.
Skilled in managing complex workloads under pressure while maintaining high standards.
Confident in chairing meetings, managing risks, and making autonomous decisions.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with proficiency in IT systems for case and performance management.
Experience working within anti-discriminatory and equal opportunities frameworks.
