Team Manager - Safeguarding and Support Service

Rate: £46 per hour (Umbrella)
Working Arrangement: Hybrid
Contract: Full-time, temporary agency assignment
Blackburn with Darwen Childrens Services, recently rated Good by Ofsted following its full ILACS inspection, is currently seeking an experienced Team Manager to lead a small, dynamic team within their Safeguarding and Support service.
In this crucial leadership role, you will oversee the delivery of statutory social work functions, including Child Protection, Pre-Proceedings, Care Proceedings, and management of transfers from Duty and Assessment teams. You will provide critical supervision, direction, and management oversight to ensure high-quality, evidence-based outcomes for children, young people, and their families.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and manage a team of social workers and allied staff to deliver high standards of safeguarding practice.
* Provide professional supervision, quality assurance, and critical reflection aligned with the Professional Capabilities Framework (PCF).
* Oversee the day-to-day operations of the team, including duty rota responsibilities and case allocations.
* Collaborate with multi-agency partners to ensure holistic, child-centred approaches are embedded in practice.
* Support the professional development of ASYEs and students and maintain a learning-focused team culture.
* Promote best outcomes for children through robust risk assessment, evidence-informed decision-making, and adherence to the Working Together and Single Assessment Frameworks.
Requirements:
* Qualified Social Worker with registration with Social Work England.
* Substantial post-qualification experience within statutory Children's Social Care, particularly in safeguarding.
* Proven experience of managing or supervising social work teams.
* Strong knowledge of current legislation, case law, and policy including experience in court work and multi-agency practice.
* Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
