About the Role
Milton Keynes Council is seeking a skilled and dedicated Social Worker to join their Family Support Team, working on a hybrid basis from the Civic Offices in the heart of Milton Keynes.
This is a frontline role supporting children and families through various levels of need, including Child in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP), and Looked After Children (LAC). You'll play a crucial role in delivering high-quality services to safeguard children and promote their well-being.
Key Responsibilities
Hold and manage a caseload of children and families under CIN, CP, and LAC frameworks
Undertake assessments in line with statutory requirements and local procedures
Develop and implement clear care plans in collaboration with families and professionals
Attend and contribute to CIN and Core Group meetings, and participate in child protection conferences and reviews
Prepare accurate and analytical court reports, risk assessments, and parenting assessments as required
Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners to deliver coordinated support
Engage in direct work with children and families to ensure their voices are heard in all decision-making
Contribute to the team duty system and respond to urgent safeguarding concerns
Maintain high-quality records in compliance with council policy and data protection regulations
Requirements
Recognised Social Work qualification (Degree/DipSW/CQSW)
Social Work England registration
Minimum of 2 years' post-qualifying experience in children's statutory services
Strong understanding of safeguarding procedures, legislation, and frameworks
Proven experience working with CIN, CP, and LAC cases
Confident in managing complex caseloads and multi-agency working
Enhanced DBS on the update service preferred
Willingness to travel within the local area as needed
