Croydon Council is looking for an experienced Qualified Social Worker to join its Family & Friends Assessment Team within the Fostering Service.
This is an excellent opportunity to work within a dedicated fostering team, completing high-quality family and friends (kinship) assessments to ensure children can safely remain within their extended family network wherever possible.
Key ResponsibilitiesComplete comprehensive Family & Friends (Kinship) assessments in line with fostering regulations and statutory guidance.Undertake viability and connected persons assessments to support permanency planning.Work closely with children, carers, families, and partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes.Prepare clear, analytical assessment reports and present recommendations where required.Ensure all assessments are child-focused, evidence-based, and completed within statutory timescales.Contribute to care planning and permanency decisions for children requiring alternative family placements.Maintain accurate case recordings and ensure compliance with legislative and safeguarding requirements.RequirementsSocial Work England registration.Qualified Social Worker with post-qualifying experience in Children's Services.Previous experience within Fostering, Kinship, Connected Persons, or Family & Friends Assessments is highly desirable.Strong assessment, analytical, and report-writing skills.Excellent knowledge of fostering legislation, safeguarding, and statutory guidance.If you're interested in this opportunity or would like to discuss other Social Work vacancies across London and the South East, please get in touch today.
