Qualified Social Worker - Family & Friends Assessment Team (Fostering Service)

Croydon Council is looking for an experienced Qualified Social Worker to join its Family & Friends Assessment Team within the Fostering Service.

This is an excellent opportunity to work within a dedicated fostering team, completing high-quality family and friends (kinship) assessments to ensure children can safely remain within their extended family network wherever possible.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete comprehensive Family & Friends (Kinship) assessments in line with fostering regulations and statutory guidance.
  • Undertake viability and connected persons assessments to support permanency planning.
  • Work closely with children, carers, families, and partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Prepare clear, analytical assessment reports and present recommendations where required.
  • Ensure all assessments are child-focused, evidence-based, and completed within statutory timescales.
  • Contribute to care planning and permanency decisions for children requiring alternative family placements.
  • Maintain accurate case recordings and ensure compliance with legislative and safeguarding requirements.

Requirements

  • Social Work England registration.
  • Qualified Social Worker with post-qualifying experience in Children's Services.
  • Previous experience within Fostering, Kinship, Connected Persons, or Family & Friends Assessments is highly desirable.
  • Strong assessment, analytical, and report-writing skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of fostering legislation, safeguarding, and statutory guidance.
