Assessment, Mid & East, Devon.

Working as an Advanced Social Worker you will work closely with your Team Manager, you will provide professional leadership and supervision to colleagues within your team, supporting your manager with the day-to-day operations and contributing to an effective and efficient service to the A&I team, Exeter.

This is a hands-on role, where you have a smaller caseload, working with children and families with a complexity of needs (including undertaking in-depth assessments) and where, through supervision and mentoring, you will share your knowledge and experience with colleagues and students to continually improve practice standards within your team.

You will champion high standards of professional social work practice, by encouraging and supporting opportunities for reflection and learning and delivering on-the-job training, coaching and mentoring to unqualified/alternatively qualified staff, students and less experienced social workers.

About you
Advanced Social Workers provide a lead social work role within each team, supporting the development of good evidence-based practice. With substantial post-qualifying experience and the ability to demonstrate that you're working at the Experienced Social Worker level, you will:
* Demonstrate the ability to work with families with complex needs within a multi-agency environment
* Be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience of social work mentoring, coaching and training professional colleagues
* Have evidence of substantial post-qualifying training and development
* Be able to lead improvement and challenge the quality of social care practice in a constructive manner

The suitable candidate will have experience of working with children and families and identifying potential child protection or dealing with ongoing child protection issues The work within the team is of a complex nature, either high end children in need, or child protection. Cases also progress to care proceedings where appropriate hence the need for knowledge around Court work and the statutory requirements for children who are looked after.

Applicants need to be experienced in progressing child protection / CIN plans with specific measurable and timely interventions and be able to recognise when further intervention is required to protect the children within their case load and take the appropriate action to address this.

Candidates will have a technical authority in social care practice with acknowledged depth and expertise, including the assessment and appropriate management of risk. Directly develops others, champions practice improvement by actively participating in process/procedure/policy and strategy development. This role may involve dealing with the most complex cases, partly in order to maintain credibility and experience in the field.

We're seeking an experienced Team Manager to support our children and young people located in Mid & East Devon. Our Team Managers make a vital contribution to the delivery of high-quality social care services. We're embedding our new restorative practice approach across our teams and making significant investment in training all practitioners and managers to build, maintain and repair relationships with our children and families. Applicants must be experienced as a Team Manager in Safeguarding and court work, and should have strong interpersonal and relationship skills to lead, support and develop the team. They must be able to commit to being on site in Phoenix House, Tiverton for 5 days every other week and then as required e.g. for training during non-duty weeks.

Pay Rate: Up to £48ph for experienced Team Managers
The pay rate is dependent upon experience within frontline services and is agreed with the hiring manager upon successful interview.
