Nottingham City Council is seeking an experienced and dedicated Social Worker to join our Child Protection (CP) / Children in Need (CIN) Team. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled practitioner who is passionate about safeguarding children and improving outcomes for families.
About the RoleYou will be part of a dynamic and supportive Children's Services team, working on complex cases to safeguard children and promote positive change. The role involves direct work with children and families, carrying out high-quality assessments, and contributing to care planning and court proceedings where necessary.
You will also play a key role in supporting best practice across the team and may provide guidance or mentoring to less experienced social workers.
Key ResponsibilitiesManage a varied caseload within CP and CIN frameworksUndertake robust assessments and develop clear care and protection plansWork closely with families, partner agencies, and multidisciplinary teamsPrepare and present high-quality reports for court proceedingsEnsure all work complies with safeguarding policies and statutory requirementsContribute to supervision, team development, and reflective practiceSupport and mentor junior practitioners where appropriateRequirementsRegistered with Social Work EnglandSignificant post-qualifying experience in Children's ServicesStrong understanding of child protection, safeguarding, and court processesExperience in supporting, mentoring, or supervising social workersExcellent assessment, communication, and analytical skillsAbility to work effectively under pressure and manage complex casesBenefitsCompetitive rate of £40 per hourSupportive and collaborative team environmentOpportunity to influence and develop best practice within the serviceOngoing contract with potential for extensionValuable experience within a forward-thinking local authorityHow to ApplyIf you are an experienced Social Worker looking for your next challenge in a rewarding CP/CIN environment, we would love to hear from you.
