Nottingham City Council is seeking an experienced and dedicated Social Worker to join our Child Protection (CP) / Children in Need (CIN) Team. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled practitioner who is passionate about safeguarding children and improving outcomes for families.
About the Role
You will be part of a dynamic and supportive Children's Services team, working on complex cases to safeguard children and promote positive change. The role involves direct work with children and families, carrying out high-quality assessments, and contributing to care planning and court proceedings where necessary.
You will also play a key role in supporting best practice across the team and may provide guidance or mentoring to less experienced social workers.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a varied caseload within CP and CIN frameworks
- Undertake robust assessments and develop clear care and protection plans
- Work closely with families, partner agencies, and multidisciplinary teams
- Prepare and present high-quality reports for court proceedings
- Ensure all work complies with safeguarding policies and statutory requirements
- Contribute to supervision, team development, and reflective practice
- Support and mentor junior practitioners where appropriate
Requirements
- Registered with Social Work England
- Significant post-qualifying experience in Children's Services
- Strong understanding of child protection, safeguarding, and court processes
- Experience in supporting, mentoring, or supervising social workers
- Excellent assessment, communication, and analytical skills
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage complex cases
