Eden Brown Synergy are currently looking for an experienced and motivated Qualified Social Worker to join the Assessment and Staying Together Team at Staffordshire County Council.
Pay Rate: £33.30 per hour (Umbrella)
Location: B79 7DW, Staffordshire
This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy Assessment and Staying Together Team, supporting children and families through high-quality assessments and interventions. You will work with children and their families to identify strengths, manage risk and promote positive outcomes, ensuring that children can safely remain within their family networks wherever possible.
You will be responsible for undertaking statutory assessments, managing child protection and child in need cases, completing court-related work where required, and working closely with partner agencies to deliver effective safeguarding interventions.
Key Skills Required:
* Experience within Assessment, Child Protection, Child in Need or Duty Teams
* Strong safeguarding, assessment and risk management skills
* Experience completing statutory assessments and care planning
* Ability to manage a varied caseload and prioritise effectively
* Strong communication, report writing and multi-agency working skills
* Social Work England registration required
Essential Requirements:
* Social Work Qualification - Degree or equivalent
* Registered with Social Work England
* Previous experience within Children's Services
* Strong knowledge of statutory safeguarding legislation and children's social care practice

Key Responsibilities:
Undertake comprehensive assessments of children and families, identifying risks, needs, strengths, and protective factors.Manage a diverse caseload, including Child in Need, Child Protection, Looked After Children, and pre-proceedings cases.Complete statutory visits, direct work, and interventions in line with legislative frameworks, policies, and statutory timescales.Develop, review, and implement child-centred care plans to safeguard children and improve family outcomes.Lead on safeguarding enquiries, strategy discussions, and risk assessments to ensure timely protective action.Work closely with multi-agency professionals, including education, health, police, and legal teams, to provide coordinated support.Support families through crisis intervention, edge-of-care planning, and early help strategies to prevent family breakdown where possible.Build effective relationships with children, young people, and families to promote engagement and positive change.Attend and contribute to Child Protection Conferences, Core Group meetings, and Looked After Reviews.Prepare clear, analytical, and high-quality reports, assessments, and court statements for legal proceedings when required.Undertake permanency planning, including rehabilitation, kinship care, and care proceedings where necessary.Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant case recording in line with local authority and statutory requirements.For Senior Practitioners and ATMs: provide supervision, mentoring, case oversight, and practice support to team members.Promote best practice, quality assurance, and continuous service improvement across the team.

* Social Worker (Band 1) - ASYE + minimum 2 years' experience - £28.55 per hour (Umbrella)
* Senior Social Worker (Band 2) - ASYE + minimum 3 years' experience - £30.57 per hour (Umbrella)
* Advanced/Senior Practitioner/Assistant Team Manager - £33.30 per hour (Umbrella)
Location: Floor 1, South Staffordshire District Council / Codsall Library
As part of the Assessment & Staying Together Team, you will work directly with children, young people and families to assess needs, identify risks and deliver timely interventions that support families to remain safely together wherever possible. You will play a key role in safeguarding children, undertaking statutory assessments and ensuring that children receive the right support at the right time.
The team is committed to delivering child-focused, strengths-based practice, building positive relationships with families and working collaboratively with partner agencies to improve outcomes for children and young people.
Key Skills Required:
* Experience within Assessment, Safeguarding, Child Protection and Children in Need services
* Ability to undertake high-quality assessments and formulate effective plans
* Strong risk assessment and decision-making skills
* Experience working with children, families and multi-agency partners
* Ability to manage a varied caseload and work within statutory timescales
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* For Advanced Practitioner/Assistant Team Manager roles, experience of supervision, mentoring, practice development or supporting the learning of others
Essential Requirements:

* Relevant post-qualification experience as outlined for each grade
* Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation, policies and procedures
