  • Working Hours: Full-time

  • Pay Rate: £42 per hour (Umbrella)

  • Working Pattern: Hybrid - 2 days per week in the office, 3 days remote working


About the Role

Cambridgeshire County Council is looking for an experienced Senior Practitioner to join their Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) Team based at the Police Headquarters in Huntingdon.

This vital role involves making swift and sound safeguarding decisions by working closely with professionals from multiple agencies. You will play a key role in screening contacts, identifying levels of need, and initiating appropriate safeguarding actions for children and families across Cambridgeshire.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead decision-making and risk assessment processes within the MASH

  • Screen referrals, analyse information, and determine appropriate next steps

  • Work closely with Police, Health, Education, and other safeguarding partners

  • Provide expert safeguarding advice to internal and external colleagues

  • Ensure that referrals are processed within agreed timescales to ensure timely interventions

  • Maintain accurate records of actions, decisions, and outcomes

  • Support the MASH Manager and act as a point of escalation for complex cases

  • Contribute to service improvements and uphold high standards of safeguarding practice


Requirements

  • Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration

  • Significant post-qualification experience in Children's Services

  • Prior experience in a MASH, safeguarding, or assessment team is highly desirable

  • Strong understanding of thresholds for intervention and safeguarding processes

  • Ability to analyse information quickly and make sound decisions under pressure

  • Enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

  • Excellent multi-agency working skills and high attention to detail
