Assistant Right to Buy Officer - Barking Townhall
1. Assist with the development of all procedures relating to the processing of applications for Right to Buy applications as required by the Housing Act 1985 (as amended)
2. Assist the Right to Buy Leasehold Officers with the preparation of all work applicable to the sale of Council houses including, registration of Right to Buy applications, checking them for completeness, accuracy and compliance with relevant legislation for manager authorisation.
3. To carry out all administrative duties in respect of Cash Incentive Schemes, Staircasing of Shared Ownership, rent to mortgage and other Low Cost Home Ownership initiatives and prepare recommendations for acceptance onto schemes.
4. To be first point of call for any enquiries and provide general advice either in person, in writing or by telephone to officers and members of the public on Right to Buy matters.
5. To assist with the collection of financial and performance information relating to Right to Buy activity for the Senior RTB and Leasehold Officer and Senior Manager ensuring that the all information held on data basis is current and accurate.
6. To occasionally visit customers in their homes in order to verify customer information and validate that properties qualify for purchase under the scheme.
7. To assist with verifying the information supplied at various stages of any application to ensure correct and accurate conveyancing instructions are given to the Legal Department within the statutory timescales and recorded onto main system.
8. To liaise with external agencies including other Housing Associations and Local Authorities to verify applicants eligibility on to schemes and monitor accordingly.
9. In the absence of the Right to Buy Leasehold Services Officer, liaise with the Council's Legal section in order to provide advice to customers in relation to general enquiries regarding legal status for resale, transfer of deeds and payback discounts
10. To assist with the provision of information to the Council's Investigation team to prevent Housing Fraud in relation to the sale of Council property
11. To provide administrative support to the Sales and Leasing team as and when necessary
