About the Role:
The Erewash South Social Work Team is seeking an experienced and motivated Advanced Social Worker to join our friendly, community-based team of Social Care Practitioners and Social Workers. Based in Ilkeston, Derbyshire, this team is highly supportive and focuses on delivering person-centred, strength-based outcomes for adults and carers in the Erewash South area.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct Care Act (2014) telephone and face-to-face assessments and reviews with a focus on promoting independence and well-being.
Build strong, professional links with partner agencies such as Health, Police, Housing, and PVi sectors to deliver collaborative support.
Provide Duty cover, effectively triaging and assessing incoming work, and responding to urgent situations.
Manage a complex caseload while ensuring timely and accountable recording of interventions.
Identify opportunities for signposting to additional services and resources to support carers and maximize individual well-being.
Take a lead role in Section 42 Safeguarding enquiries, chairing multi-agency meetings such as MARM, and conducting Mental Capacity Act (2005) assessments, including Best Interest meetings and court-related work (e.g., COP-DOLs).
About You:
To succeed in this role, you will need:
A Social Work qualification (e.g., BA, MA, or DipSW) and registration with Social Work England.
Significant experience working in Adult Social Care, ideally within a community-based setting.
Proven ability to work autonomously, demonstrating high levels of accountability and effective case management.
Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Care Act (2014) and Mental Capacity Act (2005).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective partnerships.
Experience in safeguarding, risk management, and working within multi-agency frameworks.
Desirable Skills:
Experience leading on Section 42 Safeguarding, chairing MARM meetings, and completing Mental Capacity Act assessments.
Familiarity with Best Interest meetings, COP-DOLs processes, and court work.
While experience in these areas is advantageous, training and support will be available to candidates wishing to develop these skills.
