About the Role:
Barnsley Council is seeking an experienced SEND Tribunal Officer to join their team on an interim basis. This is a key role in supporting the Local Authority in managing Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) tribunal cases, with a focus on early resolution and legal compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and respond to SEND tribunal cases from initial notification to resolution.Prepare comprehensive written responses, evidence bundles, and liaise with legal representatives, families, and professionals.Attend and represent the council at tribunal hearings where required.Work collaboratively with SEN case officers, schools, and multi-agency partners.Provide guidance and support to the wider SEN team around tribunal procedures and compliance.What We're Looking For:

Experience in complaint handling, multi-agency working, and stakeholder engagement.
Strong ICT skills for data tracking and performance monitoring.
Desirable:Working knowledge of the Capita system.
Familiarity with related legislation (Children Act, safeguarding, Adult Social Care).

Herefordshire Adult Social Care uses the Mosaic client database so experience with this system would be an advantage, but training will be provided as required. You will support the CHC Lead with the overall management of the CHC pathway from referral to outcome and monitoring the financial implications of those outcomes.
We are currently working a hybrid system of part office/part home-based working. There is a requirement to be able to work face to face and be based in the office in Hereford for at least 2 days each week.
