The LADO role is a specialist social work role required under Working Together and Keeping Children Safe in Education. We are looking for a qualified social work manager with significant experience of safeguarding and investigations of abuse or quality of care issues. Ideally they will already have experience of undertaking the LADO role. They will need to be able to work with authority and clarity providing advice and oversight of investigations into allegations to diverse organisations across the city, chairing LADO strategies and identifying and responding to organisational concerns. The post holder will need to be comfortable working autonomously managing a complex caseload with highly sensitive information about professionals and organisations, and an ability to show sensitivity, empathy challenge alongside clear thinking to support the process for the child or young person, the employee and the organisation for which they work.
The role includes:
* Providing advice and guidance in relation to potential LADO referrals and consultation
* Chairing multi-agency Allegation Management strategy meetings and the contemporaneous maintenance of case records, actions and outcomes.
* Liaising with external regulatory bodies in relation to complex allegations that may result in disciplinary or legal action ensuring that appropriate referrals to professional regulatory bodies are made.
* Providing professional consultation to organisations on complex suitability cases.
* Ensuring your role and associated safeguarding processes are understood by organisations/settings working with children within the Bristol boundaries including those who may not be affiliated to a governing body.
* Presenting and training to organisations on roles and responsibilities in relation to allegations management
* Managing two LADO coordinators
You will be SWE registered, ideally a driver with access to own car and able to reside and work in the UK
