Eden Brown Synergy is currently recruiting for an experienced Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) on behalf of Cheshire East Council. This role is vital in managing and overseeing allegations made against adults working or volunteering with children, ensuring that safeguarding responsibilities are met in line with statutory guidance (Working Together to Safeguard Children).


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the full allegations process in line with multi-agency and statutory frameworks.

  • Provide expert advice, guidance and consultation to employers, voluntary organisations, and partner agencies on safeguarding procedures.

  • Chair complex inter-agency strategy meetings and oversee the investigation process from start to completion.

  • Develop and implement performance monitoring tools, outcome frameworks, and ensure reporting to SMT, LSCB, and DfE.

  • Lead policy development on safe recruitment practices and safe working environments across agencies.

  • Audit and review inter-agency safeguarding compliance and performance.

  • Promote and support training initiatives in line with identified safeguarding and policy needs.

  • Represent Cheshire East at regional LADO meetings and act as the strategic safeguarding lead when required.


Essential Criteria:

  • Qualified Social Worker - DipSW/CQSW/CSS or equivalent and registered with Social Work England

  • Significant experience in child protection and safeguarding, including complex case management

  • Experience of chairing multi-agency safeguarding meetings

  • Knowledge of national safeguarding legislation and experience applying Working Together to Safeguard Children

  • Experience working at both operational and strategic levels across multi-agency environments

  • Proven experience in offering safeguarding guidance and resolving inter-agency disputes

  • Strong understanding of safer recruitment and managing allegations policies


Desirable:

  • Management qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 4 or equivalent)

  • Previous LADO experience or experience at senior safeguarding level

  • Experience in performance reporting and strategic development
