Lancashire County Council is currently looking for experienced Agency Social Workers to join their Duty & Assessment Team.



Pay Rate: £36.00 per hour (Umbrella)
Location: Accrington Library,

Key Responsibilities:

Receive, screen, and respond to referrals relating to children and families requiring statutory intervention.Undertake timely Child and Family Assessments to identify risks, needs, and appropriate support plans.Conduct safeguarding enquiries and assess risk where there are concerns about a child's welfare or safety.Make informed recommendations regarding thresholds for Early Help, Child in Need, Child Protection, or legal intervention.Carry out home visits, direct work with children and families, and gather information from relevant professionals.Develop and implement outcome-focused plans to improve the safety and wellbeing of children.Work collaboratively with partner agencies, including health, education, police, and voluntary sector services.Prepare high-quality assessments, reports, and case recordings in line with statutory requirements and timescales.Attend and contribute to strategy discussions, child protection conferences, and multi-agency meetings.Manage a diverse caseload effectively, ensuring children are seen regularly and their voices are heard.Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records and performance data.Ensure all practice is child-centred, strengths-based, and compliant with safeguarding legislation, policies, and procedures.

Essential Requirements:

Social Work Qualification - Degree or equivalentAt least 3 years' experience as a social worker within children's servicesSocial Work England RegistrationDriving license and access to own vehicle

Overview:
Lancashire County Council is seeking an experienced and proactive Qualified Social Worker (QSW) to join their Duty & Assessment Team based at County Hall, Preston. This is a fast-paced frontline role, ideal for social workers who thrive in a dynamic environment and are passionate about safeguarding children and supporting families at the earliest stage.

Key Responsibilities:

Undertake initial assessments and investigations in line with statutory requirementsManage incoming referrals and respond to safeguarding concerns promptlyComplete Section 17 and Section 47 assessments within required timescalesWork closely with multi-agency partners to ensure effective information sharingMake informed decisions to ensure the safety and well being of childrenMaintain accurate, high-quality case records and reportsParticipate in duty rota and respond to urgent cases

Requirements:

Qualified Social Worker with a recognised Social Work qualificationRegistered with Social Work EnglandPrevious experience within a Duty & Assessment or frontline children's teamStrong understanding of UK safeguarding legislation and frameworksAbility to work under pressure and manage competing prioritiesExcellent assessment, analytical, and communication skills
