Job Title: Qualified Social Worker (QSW) - Duty & Assessment Team
Location: County Hall, PR1 8RE Hybrid
Pay Rate: £37 per hour
Contract Type: Agency / Locum
Working Pattern: Full-time (37 hours per week)
Overview:
Lancashire County Council is seeking an experienced and proactive Qualified Social Worker (QSW) to join their Duty & Assessment Team based at County Hall, Preston. This is a fast-paced frontline role, ideal for social workers who thrive in a dynamic environment and are passionate about safeguarding children and supporting families at the earliest stage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake initial assessments and investigations in line with statutory requirements
- Manage incoming referrals and respond to safeguarding concerns promptly
- Complete Section 17 and Section 47 assessments within required timescales
- Work closely with multi-agency partners to ensure effective information sharing
- Make informed decisions to ensure the safety and well being of children
- Maintain accurate, high-quality case records and reports
- Participate in duty rota and respond to urgent cases
Requirements:
- Qualified Social Worker with a recognised Social Work qualification
- Registered with Social Work England
- Previous experience within a Duty & Assessment or frontline children's team
- Strong understanding of UK safeguarding legislation and frameworks
- Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities
- Excellent assessment, analytical, and communication skills
