Social Worker - Child Protection / Children in Need (CP/CIN) Team | Nottingham City CouncilAbout the Role

Nottingham City Council is looking for an experienced Social Worker to join its Child Protection / Children in Need (CP/CIN) Team on an ongoing agency contract. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a supportive service, helping safeguard children and improve outcomes for vulnerable families.

Location: Nottingham (NG2 7QP)
Contract: Ongoing Agency Contract
Pay Rate: Competitive hourly rate

Key ResponsibilitiesManage a caseload of children subject to Child Protection and Children in Need plans.Complete assessments, care planning, and statutory visits in line with legislation and local procedures.Build effective relationships with children, families, and partner agencies.Undertake risk assessments and develop plans to ensure children's safety and wellbeing.Prepare high-quality reports and maintain accurate case records.Attend strategy meetings, child protection conferences, core group meetings, and court proceedings where required.RequirementsSocial Work England registration.Significant post-qualifying experience within Children's Services.Experience working within Child Protection and/or Children in Need teams.Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation, child protection procedures, and relevant statutory guidance.Excellent assessment, communication, and decision-making skills.Ability to manage a busy caseload and work effectively within a multi-agency environment.BenefitsCompetitive hourly pay rate.Ongoing agency contract with the potential for extension.Supportive and collaborative team environment.Opportunity to make a meaningful difference to the lives of children and families.Dedicated consultant support throughout your assignment.

Nottingham City Council is seeking a dedicated and passionate Qualified Social Worker (QSW) to join our Child Protection/Child in Need (CP/CIN) Team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to make a meaningful impact in the lives of vulnerable children and families. You will be working in a dynamic environment where your skills and expertise will be valued and nurtured.

As a Qualified Social Worker in the CP/CIN Team, your key responsibilities will include:

Conducting comprehensive assessments of children and families to determine their needs and risks. Developing and implementing effective care plans in collaboration with children, families, and other professionals. Managing a caseload of children in need and those subject to child protection plans. Working closely with multi-agency partners to ensure the best outcomes for children and families. Providing support and guidance to families, helping them to access necessary services and resources. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date case records in compliance with statutory requirements.

To be considered for this role, you must possess the following essential qualifications and skills:

A recognised social work qualification (e.g., Degree in Social Work, DipSW, or equivalent). Registration with Social Work England. Experience working within child protection or child in need settings. Strong assessment, analytical, and report writing skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children and families. A thorough understanding of relevant legislation and safeguarding policies.
