About the Role:
East Riding of Yorkshire Council is recruiting an experienced Qualified Social Worker to join its dedicated Children with Disabilities (CWD) Team. This is a key opportunity to make a difference in the lives of children and young people with complex needs and disabilities. You will work across the spectrum of Children in Need, Child Protection, Children Looked After, and court work.
The team delivers holistic, child-centred interventions through strong partnerships with families, support workers, and external agencies. You will work alongside a supportive team of advanced practitioners, NQSWs, students, and admin staff, with flexible, blended working supported through agile work kits.
Key Responsibilities:
Build positive, trust-based relationships with children, young people, and their families.
Undertake assessments to identify needs and risks.
Develop child-focused care and support plans in collaboration with families and professionals.
Deliver interventions under CIN, CP, CLA, and care proceedings.
Work closely with family support and partner agencies to deliver coordinated services.
Maintain accurate, high-quality case records in line with statutory and local guidelines.
Requirements:
Social Work qualification and registration with Social Work England.
Proven experience working within a statutory children's team (preferably with CWD).
Strong understanding of child development, safeguarding, and disability-related practice.
Enhanced DBS and photographic ID required on first day of duty.
Excellent communication, planning, and assessment skills.

About the Role
East Riding of Yorkshire Council is currently seeking an experienced Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join their Child Protection team. As an IRO, your primary focus will be to ensure that children subject to child protection plans receive robust and timely reviews, with all decisions and plans effectively scrutinised to promote their safety, welfare, and development.
You will act as a critical safeguard for looked-after children and children on protection plans, ensuring compliance with statutory guidelines and a high standard of multi-agency working. This is an important frontline leadership role aimed at improving outcomes for vulnerable children in the local area.
Key Responsibilities
Chair Child Protection Conferences and Looked After Children (LAC) Reviews in accordance with statutory requirements.
Monitor the implementation of child protection and care plans to ensure effectiveness and timeliness.
Maintain independence while ensuring multi-agency accountability.
Challenge and escalate issues where statutory duties or quality standards are not being met.
Contribute to service development through reflective supervision, performance monitoring, and practice improvement.
Maintain accurate and comprehensive case records on the Council's case management system.
Work collaboratively with social workers, families, and key stakeholders to advocate for children's best interests.
RequirementsQualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration
Significant experience in child protection and looked after children work
Previous experience as an IRO or CP Chair is highly desirable
Comprehensive understanding of legislation, statutory guidance, and best practice relating to child protection and looked after children
Excellent communication, leadership, and conflict-resolution skills
Able to confidently challenge and influence multi-agency decisions
Willingness to present photographic ID on the first day of work
